Gesso recipe for sketchbook pages

I wanted to create stiffened fabric pages for my sketchbook that I could draw paint or stitch over. I thought about using Gesso. Wanting to start immediately I looked to see how it was made and came across a recipe on-line using talcum powder with PVA glue.I had both items and decided to make some.

  • 2 parts water
  • 3 parts PVA glue
  • Talcum powder added until thick batter like consistency is achieved.

This recipe works fantastically and is absolutely perfect for creating rough pages for my sketchbook.
