Exploration of artists using rope

I’ve started to explore artists who use rope within their practice. There are a few who really stand out for me.

Heather Pickwell has used rope to explore cells and mutation / cell growth. She uses free-form crochet to build rope into structural sculptures.

Ferne Jacobs predominantly uses coiled basketry techniques to create sculptural forms that resemble vessels. Not strictly using rope but her work does show the amazing level of structure that is possible from fibre and thread.

Judy Tadman also uses rope in a structural way to create abstract shapes that reference nature.
